Homelessness Services
People become homeless for a variety of reasons.
At Uniting Mt Waverley we help young people, adults, families and couples who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, to access, establish and maintain long term housing.
Our goal is to provide the necessary support to help you obtain housing without entering the homelessness service system.
We can help you with:
- Assistance to find long term secure housing if you are living in an unregistered or sub standard rooming house or accommodation.
- Exploring accommodation options if you are homeless, couch surfing or living in inappropriate, insecure or overcrowded housing.
- Referral to accommodation vacancies through the state wide resource register.
- Emergency food assistance.
- Information and advice if you are struggling to pay rent and bills, including information on rental arrears, rent in advance and bonds.
- Housing information, advice, referral and support.
- Support to explore, establish and maintain private rental, social housing, aboriginal housing, women’s and public housing.
- Linking in with your community through education, employment and training.
- Advice and referrals regarding your tenancy rights to reduce the risk of being evicted.
If you live in the eastern region of Melbourne call our Initial Assessment and Planning team on (03) 9051 3000 and discuss your situation with a worker.
